Inspiration of the Week...Byker Lass

I love how the world of social networking can open your eyes to so much talent. Whilst browsing Twitter yesterday, I stumbled upon a very talented graphic designer and illustrator, Byker Lass. Being a Northern girl through and through I am always proud to see fellow northerners make it in the design world. Created by the super talented Jo Burrows, her geordie inspired designs are funky, bold and humorous. I urge you all to follow her blog, she has some amazing designs there that would be perfect for gifts, I know I will be investing in some for upcoming birthdays. Check out her site for more quirky gifts and card at geordiemugs.co.uk. Very inspiring!

George Shaw at the Baltic, Gateshead

I urge anyone in the North East (or even further afield) to visit the Baltic. On a visit with a friend today, I was absolutely in awe of the works of George Shaw in the exhibition 'The Sly and The Unseen'. I have not been inspired by such a great artist exhibition in a long time. Beautiful work. Currently on until the 15 May 2011 at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts.

Flatforms? Really?!

Apparently this season we will all be wearing the latest fashion of 'flatforms'. Spotted in shows by Chanel, Derek Lam, Michael Kors and Prada, these are the new must have shoe for Spring/Summer 2011. Someone must be playing a joke somewhere in the industry because these are gross, unflattering and quite simply, UGLY! I will not be trading in my heels for these at any time soon.

Daisy Lowe for ASOS ♡

I absolutely adore Daisy Lowe and her shoot for ASOS' March 2011 Issue (via zombieandcandy.com) is so cute. She has an amazing figure and states that "Real women have hips and an arse, yet loads of models in shows seem to have neither." Well said!

Edible Angry Birds

Unless you have been living in hole for the past few months, you will have heard of, played and become instantly addicted to the simple brilliance that is Angry Birds. Well, these clever people at the ArtistanCakeCompany have designed the full set of Angry Bird cake toppers...amazing! Don't know about you but I would find it pretty hard to eat these little guys!

Zodiac Shoot in German Vogue

Love this Swarovski Zodiac Calendar shoot from German Vogue (via SwarovskiElements) all featuring Swarovski Elements. Quite interesting choice of shoots considering the latest news that apparently all our star signs have shifted and should change. I am a Pisces (it would be so wrong to change it) which are you?

This is Couture...

It's no secret that I am a massive fan of the genius that is Elie Saab. In my opinion there was a lack of feminine class from Couture shows so far this week, but as always Elie Saab brought sophistication and inspiration into the world of Couture. Absolutely in love with his colour palette, he has such a way of designing shapes to suit and flatter the female form, and his material is chic and effortless. Ethereal, flawless, perfection!
